A.    Description of the material designed and applied for
·         the second -year students at the Department of English, Faculty of Letters, National University of Laos
·         their ages in the twenties  
·         their English level  considered as intermediate
·         the six-hour lesson
B.     Goals
·         Learners will feel familiar with different types of questions which are related with the activities supporting learners widening a number of vocabularies regarding to the theme in the lesson skills-based including speaking and listening
·         Learners  will understand some techniques in three procedures of listening likely pre, while and post
·         Learners will learn the academic words as medicine term 
·         Learners will be able to do work as collaboration.
C.    Procedure
The lesson will be divided into three parts as followed
1.      Pre-listening activities
·         Warming –up by asking questions about
a.       Why do people go to see the doctor?
·         Introducing the topic and letting students to make a prediction and make a list of words expected which they will hear from the listening track.
·         Making comparison between their lists with their classmate
·         Adding more words in their own lists.
·         Copying the words from the context as followed
Pain
Digestion
Ulcer
Lactose intolerance
Constipated
Burping
antacid
heartburn and bloating



2.      While listening
a.      Listen and answer what happens in the conversation
b.      Let’s Listen the conversation and  label each statement with right number
........... There’s nothing I enjoy more than spending a couple of hours relaxing at a cafe. I sit drinking my tea and reading. What could be better?

...........   So I think I may have to see a doctor soon. You know I’ve had these terrible ……………..(1) in my stomach. My ………………..(2)is terrible and now I think I might have an ………………..(3)

........... Well, I was having a relaxing time until I started overhearing the woman at the next table talking loudly on her cell phone.

........... No, I don’t think it could be …………………….(4). My bowels are working fine. I don’t have the runs or feel constipated. I just get a really upset stomach and these terrible pains.
........... This was definitely not a conversation I wanted to listen to. I looked around for another table, somewhere I could escape to.

........... Yes, I do feel some heartburn and bloating. Do you really think it could be acid reflux? I do have a problem with too much gas and ……………..(5) a lot. Will an ………………..(6) help, do you think?
c.       Listening and completing the gaps by using  words or expressions in Pre- listening activity
d.      Listening and check your answers then compare your answers with your classmate
e.       Practice the conversation with someone sitting at the same table.
3.      Post listening
·         Create your own conversation with the person arranged for you.
·         Do a role-play in front the class. One tries to pretend to be a doctor and the another tries to pretend as the patient.
